Chapter 7: The fairies and fables

Sorry its late. This will probably be the last chapter of the year.

The triplets have left Pewter City and are now journeying towards Cerulean City for Alexander’s second Gym badge. They are now at the base of Mount Moon.

“This is Mount Moon. It’s a rather large mountain,” said Alexis.

“Then let’s go now so that we can get through it sooner,” said Alexander, rushing towards the entrance.

The triplets slowly walked through the dark cave, using Charmander’s flame to guide them. Suddenly, a bright light was shining on them.

“What are you three kids doing here?” said a dark-skinned man, who looked sort of like Billy and Tilly Harrison.

“We’re trying to get to Cerulean city,” said Alexander, “Are you Brock? Your brother told us about you.

“Yes, I’m Brock, the guardian of the caves and mountains of the Pokémon world, said the man. “What are your names?”

“I’m Alexandra _____________, and these are my brothers Alexander and Alexis,” said Alexandra.

“So you’re our leader’s three kids. I’ll take you to Cerulean city, since I’m one of the few people who can get through the defences. It’s my duty to help travellers through the caves anyway. You three are very lucky, today the Clefairy have their annual dance around the giant Moon Stone,” said Brock.

The triplets followed Brock, using Charmander’s flame and Brock’s flash light to guide them. They came to a large cavern, with six other entrances. In the middle was a white pedestal with a giant charcoal-coloured rock in the very centre.

“The performance will begin soon,” said Brock, “This is something that not very many people get to see.”

A few hours later, they heard a low rumble as about a hundred Clefairy came into the cavern. They started dancing around the Moon stone, seven on the pedestal and the rest around it. Then, the indentations on the pedestal were filled with a white liquid that came from beneath the Moon Stone. The seven Clefairy that were on the pedestal touched the Moon Stone and started glowing white. When the light faded, the triplets saw that they had evolved into Clefable.

Suddenly, there was a loud boom, and eight claws came down from a newly-formed opening in the ceiling of the cave. They latched onto the pedestal and lifted it, the newly-evolved Clefable and the Moon Stone into the air.

“NO! You fools can’t take the lunar pedestal away. It helps to maintain the balance between light and shadow,” shouted Brock.

“That’s the point,” said the thieves, who revealed themselves to be Vicious, Domino, Miyamoto and Tyson. “The darkness will allow us to take over.”

“As a Guardian, I cannot allow that to happen. Golem, help me,” said Brock. He threw three Poké Balls into the air and each sent out a Golem. “Rock blast. All three of you.”

The three Golem took rocks from the ground and threw it at the Rockets’ balloon, bursting it.

“Boss, we have a problem. Our balloon has been downed. Can you send something to pick us and the pedestal? Thanks” said Domino into a communicator on her wrist.

The pedestal moved back to where it was originally, then shone blue as confirmation.

“We’ll just be taking all those Clefairy and Clefable, as well as the pedestal,” said Miyamoto. She replaced the hooks around the pedestal and threw a net around the Pokémon.

“You’re not taking anything,” said Brock. “Golem, Strategy 23-Defense curl & Rollout combo. But try not to destroy the pedestal for goodness sake.”

The three Golem saluted Brock, then curled up into three balls. Their coats shone, then they rolled at the Rockets, sending them flying through the opening in the ceiling. Unfortunately, a helicopter with a large red capital letter R came to their rescue.

“Haha. Suckers,” shouted the Rockets. They slowly started to lift the pedestal.

“Golem, I think its time for our secret weapon. Use Stone edge to cut that net into little pieces of rope,” said Brock.

“Bulbasaur, use Razor leaf,” said Alexandra.

Bulbasaur sent two razor sharp leaves spinning at the rope connecting the helicopter and the net, cutting it. Then white rings appeared around the Golem, then turned into small brown stones which went flying at the net, tearing it into shreds.

The pedestal returned once more to its place at the centre of the cave.

“Noooooo, the boss will be furious that we failed against a bunch of kids,” moaned the Rockets.

“Do you mean to imply that I am a child? Then you have made a grave error,” said Brock seriously. “Golem, Hyper Beam.

The three Golem sent a massive combined Hyper beam at the Rockets, blasting them far, far away.

“Now come on children,” he said.

The triplets quietly followed him out of the cave. But then, just outside the area with the pedestal, Alexandra tripped over a rock, and instead of throwing the poké ball she was holding in her hand at a Clefairy, she hit one on the head with it, knocking it out but successfully capturing it.

“Wow, what a fluke capture,” she said. She stood up and struck a pose, “I got a Clefairy!”

Chapter 6: Off to a rocky start

The triplets reached the end of Viridian Forest. They stepped out into the sunshine and looked at what lay before them. Instead of the sprawling metropolis they expected to see, they saw a group of rocks.

“According to my Town Map, that’s Pewter City,” said Alexis. As they got closer to the “group of rocks” they found that the “rocks” were actually large boulders, with houses embedded inside them. In the middle was a gigantic rock statue, built in the shape of a giant Golem that was partially buried in the soil.

“Alexis, Why is there a giant Golem statue?” asked Alexander.

“That’s Pewter City’s Impenetrable Defence Robot. Its skill in battle is legendary. When the IDR itself isn’t battling, the battlefield inside functions as the Pewter City Gym. All the cities that didn’t get destroyed by the evil teams have some sort of defence, like the ring of mountains around Pallet town and the IDR in Pewter city” explained Alexis.

“So let’s just scurry along over to that gym shall we?” interrupted Alexander.

“You might want to borrow Squirtle though, since Charmander will be a lousy matchup against a rock-type,” said Alexis.

A few minutes later, they stood in front of the Pewter City gym. They entered, and were immediately greeted by a very enthusiastic girl.

“Welcome. I’m Tilly Harrison. Which one of you is the challenger? Or are all of you challenging the gym? Come on, my brother won’t wait forever. He prefers enthusiastic challengers,” she said in one breath.

“I’m the challenger. My name is Alexander, and I’m from Pallet town,” said Alexander calmly.

Soon, it was time for the gym battle.

“The Battle between the Pewter City Gym leader, Billy Harrison and the challenger, Alexander of Pallet town will now begin. Both trainers can use two Pokémon each but only the challenger will be allowed substitutions. Let the battle begin,” said Tilly, who was refereeing the battle.

“Geodude, time to crush the enemy,” said Billy, sending out his first pokémon.

“Charmander, brace yourself for battle,” said Alexander.

“A Fire-type? You don’t know your type matchups do you? Rock type attacks deal double damage against fire types,” said Billy.

“Really? That’s news to me,” said Alexander sarcastically. “Charmander, use tackle.”

“Geodude, use rock throw when it comes close,” said Billy. Just as Charmander was about to tackle, Geodude picked up a rock from the ground and threw it at Charmander, who went flying.

“Charmander, use ember,” ordered Alexander. Orange embers shot out of Charmander’s mouth and sent Geodude flying into a rock.

“Geodude, use Rock Throw,” said Billy.

“Charmander, use ember,” commanded Alexander. The rock and the embers collided, but Charmander’s ember was stronger, and pushed the rock back at Geodude. Geodude was pushed back into another rock and crushed between them, knocking it out.

“Geodude is unable to battle,” said Tilly.

“That was a fluke. Onix, bind that Charmander,” said Billy, throwing a Poké ball, from which a giant rock snake came out. Onix wrapped it self around Charmander.

“Charmander, use ember,” said Alexander. But Charmander’s ember wasn’t enough to save it from being knocked out.

“Charmander is unable to battle,” said Tilly.

“Alexis, Thank you for lending me your Squirtle. You showed your faith in me. I won’t let you down. Squirtle, destroy it with a bubble,” said Alexander. Squirtle burst out of its Poké ball and sent a mass of bubbles towards Onix, dealing massive damage to it.

“Onix, use rock throw,” ordered Billy.

“Counter it with bubble,” said Alexander. Like Charmander’s ember before it, Squirtle’s bubble reflected the rock throw back at the opponent. This time though, Onix survived the attack, but only just. Then it got hit by the mass of bubbles that Squirtle had sent at it in the first place. It couldn’t survive the onslaught of such a powerful attack and fainted.

“Onix is unable to battle. The victory in this match goes to Alexander of Pallet town,” said Tilly.

Later, outside the gym, Billy presented the Boulder badge to an ecstatic Alexander.

“The Boulder badge is proof of your victory here at the Pewter City gym. Eight badges will allow you to enter the Indigo conference. I suggest that you go west to Cerulean City and challenge the water type gym there. It’s run by one of my sister-in-laws,” said Billy. “Oh and say hello to my brother Brock if you see him in Mount Moon.”

“I will,” said Alexander. He struck a pose, “I got a Boulder badge!”

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my readers who celebrate it. As a little present, Chapter 6 and hopefully Chapter 7 will be up within half an hour (Chapter 6 has been ready for ages and Chapter 7 just needs a few adjustments).

Chapter 5: Amarillo, guardian of the forests

The triplets left Viridian City and entered the labyrinth in the north known as Viridian forest.

“So this is Viridian Forest. It looks creepy” said Alexandra in a frightened voice.

“Don’t worry Alexandra, Alexis and I am right here beside you,” said Alexander.

“Exactly, we’ll protect you,” said Alexis. “No need to worry.”

Then, Alexandra felt something tapping her just above her right ankle.

“Alright, which one of you is it?” she said. “One of you is tapping me in a pitiful attempt to scare me”

“But neither of us has tried to scare you yet,” said Alexander.

“And it definitely wasn’t me; I was the one who offered to protect you. Why would I do that then try to scare you?” added Alexis. Alexandra looked scared, and slowly looked behind her. She saw that the thing that was tapping her was a small, green bug!

“Aaaaaaaaaah” she screamed, and ran away, deeper into the maze known as Viridian forest. She ran, and ran and ran, and ran and crashed into a tree.

“Are you all right little girl?” said a blonde-haired lady. “You look dizzy

“Y-yes I-I’m fine. I’m Alexandra, and these are my two brothers, Alexander and Alexis,” said Alexandra in a dizzy voice.

“Well, your brothers aren’t behind you that’s for sure,” said the lady worriedly.

“Alexis. Alexander,” shouted Alexandra. “Where are you?”

“We’re coming. Just keep calling our names so that we know where you are,” shouted Alexander. Alexandra did as her brother asked and they eventually found her.

“So you’re Alexandra’s brothers. My name is Amarillo del Bosque Verde, but you can just call me Amarillo. This is my partner, Raichu,” said the lady. “I’m one of the Guardians that your father chose to protect the Pokémon world. I guard all the forests and woods from evil teams like Team Rocket. There is a Guardian who looks after the caves and mountains, a Guardian who protects the seas and rivers, a Guardian of the sky, a Guardian of the cities, a Guardian of the desert and our leader, your father, the Guardian of the Legendary Pokemon. Oh and Alexandra, there’s a Caterpie behind you.”

“Aaaaaah,” she screamed. “Get it away from me.”

“I think it likes you. Maybe you should try to catch it. Caterpie’s final stage, Butterfree, is very good for contests,” said Amarillo.

BOOM! BOOM!

“What was that?” asked Alexandra, cowering behind Alexis.

“I’m going to check it out,” said Amarillo. “Are the three of you coming?”

“Well, Alexander and I want to, and we can’t leave Alexandra alone so yes, the three of us are coming,” said Alexis.

The noise was coming from a large robot, which was taking all the pokémon from the forest! The triplets immediately sent out their pokémon.

“Charmander, tackle,” commanded Alexander.

“Squirtle, use your tackle as well,” ordered Alexis.

The two pokémon did as they were told, but the robot remained unharmed.

“Let me try. Bulbasaur, razor leaf,” said Alexandra. The robot was dented, but not destroyed.

“Keep it up Bulbasaur,” said Alexandra encouragingly. Suddenly, Charmander let loose a mass of orange sparks and Squirtle sent a mass of bubbles towards the robot, promptly blowing it up, and revealing Vicious, Domino, Miyamoto and a muscular, brown-haired man.

“It seems as if Charmander has learned ember and Squirtle has learned bubble,” said Alexis knowingly.

“HOW DARE YOU!!! YOU FIENDS!! You will pay for this. Scyther, destroy them,” said Vicious.

“Vicious, look who it is. They must be punished for meddling in Team Rocket’s affairs again. Kadabra, Demolish them,” said Miyamoto

“Yes, and we’ll see whether they can survive the might of my Vileplume this time. Come on out Vileplume,” shouted Domino.

“Those little children will perish at the hands of my Fearow,” said the other man. “I, Tyson the Great, will destroy them.” The Team Rocket Elite Quartet’s Pokémon sped towards the triplets and Amarillo.

Then, out of the blues, a Caterpie shot out of the bushes and tackled the Rocket’s pokémon, which had bunched together for a combined tackle. Surprisingly, they were sent flying backwards.

“Get up, you losers. Destroy that foolish pokémon,” said Tyson. The Fearow, Vileplume, Kadabra and Scyther jumped at the Caterpie, which promptly sent them flying backwards again.

“That’s one powerful Caterpie, but it’s not going to be able to hold out forever. Charmander, help it out with ember,” commanded Alexander. Charmander sent a mass of orange embers towards its opponents.

“Squirtle, use bubble,” ordered Alexis. Squirtle let loose a hundred sky-blue bubbles.

“Bulbasaur, use razor leaf,” said Alexandra. Bulbasaur’s bulb glowed green and it sent a pair of razor-sharp leaves at the Rockets.

“Chuchu, use strategy 37-SVT,” ordered Amarillo. Her Raichu cried out, and about twenty Pikachu and a hundred Pichu came out of the bushes. They started running at the Rockets, then electricity started flowing around them and they tackled the Team Rocket Elite Quartet and their Pokémon with immense electrical energy. The electricity from all 121 electric-type pokémon became a giant hemisphere of electricity. When that hemisphere hit the Rocket’s pokémon, there was a humongous explosion and the Rockets and their pokémon were blasted far away.

The Caterpie that had helped them then presented itself in front of Alexandra, as if it wanted Alexandra to capture it. It then started glowing with a white light. When the light faded, instead of a Caterpie, there was a green crescent-shaped cocoon-Caterpie had evolved into a Metapod.

“It looks like it wants to join your team. You really should capture it. It will be very helpful for your contests as a Butterfree and it doesn’t require much training to evolve into one,” said Amarillo.

“Fine. Poké ball go,” she said. The Metapod disappeared in a flash of white light into the Poké ball. The Poké ball shook, and then stood still. Alexandra had a new member to her team.

“You should make your way that way. Pewter city is just ahead,” said Amarillo, pointing ahead, to where the triplets could see a rather strange-looking city.

Chapter 4: A co-ordinator’s contest commencement (Part Two)

It is now time for the second round of the Viridian City Contest: the Battle round.

“And the first battle of the quarter-finals will be Alexandra, the Pallet Princess, against Bobby, the crazy co-ordinator,” said Lilian,” After that beautiful display that she just gave us, I’m sure the entire crowd is rooting for the Pallet Princess. Trainers, send out your pokémon!”

Alexandra sent out Bulbasaur, while Bobby sent out a male Nidoran. “The five minutes start now!” shouted Lilian, over the crowd’s roars. “Let the match begin.” On the scoreboard, the timer started counting down.

“Bulbasaur, tackle!” commanded Alexandra. The small dinosaur-like pokémon shot up into the air and tackled the Nidoran♂ with all its might. Surprisingly, that was all it took for Alexandra to win the battle, for the Nidoran♂ fainted.

“That was way too short” remarked Contesta.

“How unremarkable,” commented Mr. Sukizo.

“I’m sure Bobby trained hard for this, but he just wasn’t good enough,” said Nurse Joy reassuringly

Lucy also won her Quarter-final match against Tarzan and his Mankey very easily, with a combination of poison powder and vine whip. A few minutes later, the first Semi-final was about to start.

“The first Semi-final is about to get underway. It will be Alexandra, the Pallet Princess, against Jeremy, the amazing amateur,” said Lilian. Alexandra sent out Bulbasaur and Jeremy sent out a Rattata. “The five minutes start…now,” said Lilian. “Let the match begin.

“Bulbasaur, tackle,” said Alexandra. Once again, Bulbasaur charged at its opponent, and once again, its opponent went down after one hit.

“Alexandra must be remarkable!” said Mr. Sukizo.

Then, it was time for Lucy’s semi-final match against Jane and her Jigglypuff, using a combination of poison powder and vine whip. Soon afterwards, it was time for the final match.

“Why do these co-ordinators like to use the same move or combination for both their quarter-final and their semi-final?” asked Contesta.

“Because that is their strategy, and their strategies are usually remarkable,” replied Mr. Sukizo.

“Why do I bother asking you questions? On second thoughts, don’t answer that,” said Contesta dryly.

“And the final match will be between Lucy, the lilac lily, and Alexandra, the Pallet princess,” said Lilian. “The outcome of this match will determine who walks away with the Viridian City Ribbon. Co-ordinators, send out your pokémon, and lets get this final underway”

Alexandra, naturally, sent out her Bulbasaur and Lucy sent out a rather mean-looking Vileplume. “The five minutes start….NOW!!” shouted Lilian.

“Good Luck. You will need it to defeat me,” said Lucy with a sneer.

“We’ll see about that. Lucy is stronger than Bobby and Jeremy so, Bulbasaur, keep using tackle until it faints,” ordered Alexandra. Lucy’s Vileplume suffered heavy damage and Lucy’s points went down. However, Alexandra’s points also decreased.

“You can’t win a contest on brute strength alone,” explained Contesta in a gruff voice, “Your last two victories now seem like flukes. You need grace and talent. You must show off your pokémon’s strengths. Prove yourself!”

“Yes. Show us how remarkable you and your Bulbasaur are,” said Mr. Sukizo.

“Then let’s use poisonpowder, then tackle,” said Alexandra.

“Vileplume, counter-attack with your poisonpowder,” said Lucy. Both grass types used poisonpowder, creating a giant purple cloud, but Vileplume’s attack was stronger, and Bulbasaur was poisoned, and started weakening from the pain of the poison. Then, Bulbasaur was covered in a green glow.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you are now witnessing Bulbasaur’s Overgrow. It makes Bulbasaur’s grass-type attacks 50% stronger when its health is low,” explained Lilian to the crowd. Then, instead of using tackle, Bulbasaur released a pair of sharp leaves from the bud on its back, defeating Vileplume.

“It appears that Alexandra’s Bulbasaur has learned razor leaf! How remarkable!” said Mr. Sukizo.

“And Alexandra wins the Viridian City Ribbon,” said Contesta. “Now you know how to win a contest.” He took the ribbon out of a box that had been inside his table and presenting the ribbon to an overjoyed Alexandra.

“So be it. You might have beaten me this time, but I won’t forget about this. The next time we meet, you won’t be so lucky,” said Lucy, turning around and leaving the stage.

Chapter 3: A co-ordinator’s contest commencement (part 1)

The triplets had made it to Viridian City and just in time for the Viridian City Pokémon Contest. It was the first contest of the year and the contest where Alexandra was going to make her debut.

“Apparently the Viridian City Pokémon Contest is today,” Alexis calmly stated.

“Then let’s get to the contest hall pronto,” said Alexander, rushing away as usual.

The Viridian City Contest Hall. It was one of the two buildings in Viridian city that was not in ruins, one of the two buildings that were not a shadow of its former glory. The other building was the Viridian City Gym, but that was closed. The triplets gazed at the magnificent building that was to house Alexandra’s first contest.

“Come on guys, let’s go in. I’m not going to win my first contest out on the streets in front of the contest hall, said Alexandra.

“You don’t have a chance at winning this. Your Bulbasaur only knows tackle remember? It needs to have at least two offensive moves if you want to win. You lose points if you continually use the same attack,” said Alexis.

“No, Bulbasaur knows tackle, stun spore and poison powder. I checked it on my Pokédex,” said Alexandra.

They went into the Contest Hall. As they were walking to the registration desk a teenage girl rushed past them, knocking them to one side.

“Hey, watch where you’re going,” shouted Alexandra.

“Whatever, loser,” she retorted. “I’m in a hurry. I need to get registered.”

“Look who’s talking. Our father is_____________,” said Alexandra.

“Big deal. He might be a legendary trainer, but that doesn’t give you the right to be rude to your elders, nor does it automatically make you a great trainer,” said the girl.

“I’m rude? Then what are you?” said Alexandra.

“Shall we settle this in the contest?” asked the teenager.

“It’s a deal. But I’ll be the one to win it,” said Alexandra

“Welcome Coordinators big and small to the first contest of the year. That’s right. This is the Viridian City Pokémon Contest,” shouted Lilian, the contest announcer for the Kanto region. “The judges for this contest will be Mr Raoul Contesta, the head of the Pokémon Activities committee, Mr Sukizo, Chairman of the Pokémon Fan Club, and the Viridian City’s own Nurse Joy. The first coordinator will be Lucy, the Lilac Lily.”

What a catastrophe! Lucy was the teenage girl who had bumped into Alexandra! Lucy sent out a Squirtle and commanded it to use bubble beam, then water gun. Squirtle sent a mass of bubbles upwards, and then used water gun to pop the bubbles, sending a shower of sparkles raining down on the crowd.

“Well I loved that one. Let’s hear the judges’ comments,” said Lilian.

“I would have thought the Lilac Lily would be able to think of a more impressive appeal. Disappointing,” said Contesta.

“I disagree. I thought it was remarkable,” said Mr Sukizo.

“Simple, yet beautiful. However, I would have expected Lucy to do better” said Nurse Joy.

A few appeals later, it was Alexandra’s turn.

“Bulbasaur, spin around while using stun spore and poisonpowder,” commanded Alexandra. Bulbasaur started running in circles, wile releasing orange and purple dust.

“Now stop,” said Alexandra. The small grass-type stopped running, and the dust became an orange and purple tornado which slowly faded away.

“Amazing. Just amazing. Judges, what do you have to say about that appeal?” said Lilian.

“Wonderful, but the moves chosen are rather simple and unimportant,” observed Contesta. “Alexandra is going to have a tough time in the battle round.”

“Remarkable, I suppose,” said Mr Sukizo, although his voice was missing its usual enthusiasm.

“Well, it was certainly very beautiful,” finished Nurse Joy consoling.

The other Coordinators made their appeals, and then it was time for Lilian to announce the names of the eight Coordinators that had made it to the Battle Round.

“And the Coordinators that have made it to the Battle round are Lucy, Bobby, Jeremy, Sarah, Jane, Tarzan, Jack and Alexandra!” shouted Lilian. “These eight coordinators will now face off in a knockout tournament to see who will walk away with the coveted Viridian City Ribbon!”

Chapter 2: First encounters of the evil kind!

A new journey has just begun. The triplets left their hometown and cycled through the small mountains that protected it from the evil that was rife around the rest of the world. After half an hour, they were exhausted. They slowly dragged themselves to the top and looked out at the land in front of them. Their world was in ruins. There were only a few trees with leaves left on them; the rest seemed to be dying. In the distance they could see Viridian city, but it was only a shadow of what it used to be. The buildings were mostly small huts with the occasional two storey house, even in Viridian city. The only large buildings were the Gym and the Contest Hall.

“Come on guys, we’re at the top, all we have to do is run down. Soon we’ll be past this barrier, into the real, Pokémon world. It’s time we left this nest and showed the world how powerful the youth really are. Our grandfather took three days to reach Viridian city. His son, our father, took two days. Let’s make our mother proud by making it to Viridian city before sunset,” said Alexander emphatically.

“It’s alright for you; you can use all that hot air inside you to float there,” muttered Alexandra.

“How are we going to get to Viridian city if we can't get past the Barrier Mountains?” asked Alexis.

“Well, we’ve done the hard part of the mountain. Come on, I’ll race you two, let’s see who gets there first,” replied Alexander.

“You’re on. I might be exhausted but I still have enough energy to beat you” said Alexis.

The two boys sped off, leaving Alexandra alone. “Oh well, if you can’t beat them, join them,” she muttered to herself, and ran after them. Just as they were nearing Viridian city, they heard a shrill, high-pitched scream that seemed to shatter the atmosphere. It was a sign that they were not within the protective barriers of their hometown.

“What should we do, Alexander?” asked Alexandra.

“Go help, it’s our duty as trainers on the good side,” he replied quietly. They followed the scream and saw a small girl and a man in black with a Rattata in his hands.

“Hahahahaha, this Rattata is as good as mine,” he cackled, jumping into his balloon.

“Stop thief,” shouted the triplets simultaneously, throwing their Poké balls high into the air. Their three pokémon appeared in a flash of white light.

“Who dares challenge Vicious, the great Team Rocket admin?” the thief shouted, “I’ll crush you.”

“We do. We’re the _______________ triplets” they replied.

“So you three are ______________‘s children. I remember him. He was a powerful trainer. Such a shame that he wasn’t on my side,” he reminisced. “This just makes me hate you more. Come on out, Scyther.” His large, green bug-type Pokémon burst out of its Poké ball and braced itself for battle.

“Too bad we’ll have to defeat you to save that Rattata. Now, all three of you, tackle,” shouted Alexander, taking temporary control of the three Pokémon. They shot up into the air and tackled Vicious’ mighty bug-type with all the force they could muster. Sadly for Vicious, his Scyther couldn’t stand it for very long.

“Well done, you managed to defeat one of my Pokémon. So you three really are his children. However, how will you fare against my other Scyther and the Pokémon my team-mates own? Domino! Miyamoto! Send out your Pokémon!” he said. A woman appeared on either side of him, a blonde haired lady on his left, who sent out a Vileplume, and a purple haired lady on his right, who sent out a Kadabra. “Hahahahaha! How can you defeat three of Team Rocket’s most elite officers?” he cackled.

“They might not be able to, but I can! GENGAR, SHADOW BALL!!!” shouted a strange old lady. She had snow-white hair and a purple dress with an apron tied on the front. In her right hand she carried a walking stick. Her Gengar appeared in front of her and sent a large black ball shooting towards the Rockets and their Pokémon who subsequently got blasted away. The Rattata they had stolen from the little girl, however, flew through the air and landed in the old lady’s arms.

“Here you are little girl. Here’s your Rattata. Take good care of it. It looks very healthy,” said the old lady. She turned to the triplets. “I’m Agatha, third member of the Kanto Elite four. You were amazing. Not many novices could have stood up to one of the members of the Team Rocket Elite Team like that.”

“Then I challenge you to a battle,” said Alexander.

“Not now. You three are still novices. Once you are strong enough, I’d like to have a battle with each of you. I’m sure that all three of you will be able to give me a good battle,” said Agatha. With those words, she left.

“Oh no, the sun is almost down,” said Alexander. “We’re not going to make it. Come on guys.” He ran off, closely followed by his brother and sister.

Chapter 1: A mirage appears! A legendary journey begins!

As the sun rose above the mountains, a small, feline Pokémon flew over to the peaceful village at the foot of the mountain range. It felt as if it had been drawn towards this place, the one place which had not been polluted, the one place that seemed to be unaffected by the catastrophes that were happening elsewhere in the region. The war between good and evil had devastated the rest of Kanto and Johto, or at least, the cities that didn't have ways of defending themselves. But not this one small, but vitally important village, where young children received their first pokémon and began their lifelong journey to explore the world of pokémon.

Slowly, the little creature flew around looking into each and every house, as if searching for something, until it came to a house that was slightly away from the rest. It looked inside and saw three triplets. They were the reason for its presence in this pure, untouched place. It felt an inexplicable connection with these three young children.

Suddenly, a deep voice in its head proclaimed, “YOU ARE THE KEY TO STOPPING THIS WAR. THE EVIL SIDE NEEDS YOU TO USE THEIR GREATEST WEAPON. JUST AS THEIR FATHER STOPPED HO-OH FROM FALLING IN TO THEIR CLUTCHES, THESE CHILDREN WILL STOP THEM FROM GETTING TO YOU.” Hearing this, the Pokémon teleported away, to speak to the Pokémon who had spoken those words.

Later that morning, those same three children woke up, got dressed and rushed down-stairs, where their mother was getting breakfast ready. Today was the most important day of their lives: their tenth birthday. The day they received their Pokémon trainer’s licences and began their Pokémon journeys, together of course.

“Happy Birthday triplets,” said their mother cheerfully. “Have you decided which pokémon you’re going to choose?”
“Charmander. When it becomes a Charizard, it will be a major powerhouse,” replied Alexander promptly.

“And it’s perfect for a hot-head like you,” retorted Alexandra. “Personally, I’m going to choose Bulbasaur. I can just imagine the appeals I can do with it. Plus it will be good for healing Alexander and Alexis’s pokémon.”

“Then I suppose I’ll get Squirtle,” said Alexis with a sigh. “No matter, that’s the one I would have chosen anyway.”

“Alexis, don’t forget that my first pokémon was a water type too,” said their mother consolingly. “Now remember children, don’t talk to strangers, train your pokémon regularly, so that they stay in good shape and call me as often as possible.”

“We know. We aren’t babies,” they chorused, while gobbling down their breakfast. A few minutes later, the triplets were on their way to meet the famous researcher Professor Oak to receive their starters. They cycled up to the top of a small hill to his laboratory and rang the doorbell.

“You’re very early,” said Professor Oak in surprise as he opened the door and smiled at the three eager children in front of him. “Come into my lab.” He led them into a small room with a round, metal stool in the middle. On top, there were three Poké balls. He tapped the front of each of them in turn, releasing the three pokémon inside from their temporary storage.

“Choose the one you want,” he said. They each chose the one they wanted, and he recalled the three starters into three different Poké balls. He gave each triplet the Poké ball containing their starter, a Pokédex, and five more Poké balls. “Now you are ready for your journey. These pokédexes contain all the information that you will need about the 151 pokémon of Kanto. The Poké balls are for capturing wild pokémon,” he said. “But be careful, there is a war going on.
